Sea Dawgs Managing Partner Selected for Power Breakfast Panel
How can Wilmington have financially successful minor league and college sports teams?
That is the topic selected for the Greater Wilmington Business Journal’s September Power Breakfast Series. Pete Gratale, a Managing Partner of the Wilmington Sea Dawgs, hopes to shed light on this subject. The discussion takes place on Tuesday, September 21st starting at 7:30 a.m. at the Hilton Hotel in downtown Wilmington.
In its literature promoting the breakfast, the Wilmington Business Journal asserts:
Wilmington would seem to be an ideal place for minor league and college sports programs. Yet our community has had problems maintaining successful teams and suffered recent setbacks, including the departure of the Wilmington Hammerheads and a decline in Seahawk Club donations and ticket sales for the UNCW men’s basketball team.
Gratale, along with representatives from the Durham Bulls, UNC-W, UNC-Chapel Hill and the former Wilmington Hammerheads will share the highs and lows associated with sports team operations as well as explore strategies for building and sustaining a successful sports franchise.
“I am thrilled to be participating in what I am sure will be a lively discussion regarding sports management,” says Gratale. “Bringing professional basketball to the area over four years ago has definitely been one of my most rewarding as well as one of my most challenging businesses endeavors.”
Registration is ongoing for this event and can be found online here. The cost to attend is $35 per seat or $350 for a table of ten. Seats must be purchased in advance.
